FAQs

What does "BNI" Stand for
BNI stands for Business Network International.
Each word is important -

  • We are a group of BUSINESS people - were here for business reasons - we're NOT a Social Club.
  • We are a NETWORK - We're all about building business relationships and generating business opportunities at the same time.
  • We are INTERNATIONAL - we're part of a group of 60 Countries around the world, that's over 5,000 chapters, over 100,000 members, over 5.5 million individual business referrals per year.

How would BNI work for me.
BNI members make use of the power of Referral Marketing.
People wanting to buy what you sell would rather deal with someone who has been recommended by a person who they know & trust.
Successful businesses have been relying on referrals for thousands of years.
BNI puts some structure and formality around the concept so that it happens in a purposeful way rather than by accident.

What do people get out of a BNI Membership

  • Increased exposure to many new people and businesses - everyone here has a group of people that they know outside of the BNI circle which means that you will now have another way of spreading your message to a wider audience.
  • Increased referrals.
  • Training, Tools & Encouragement to network more effectively.
  • Participation in nearly 50 networking meetings per year.
  • Bi-monthly newsletters with educational material on networking, public speaking, and business.
  • Opportunity to showcase your business to other members & guests
  • Free workshops on networking & how to make the most out of your membership.
  • Your business is listed on BNI Websites - 2 sites, National & Local

How do people know that BNI members are reputable?
Applicants for membership have to provide references and our Membership Committee checks them out, and as their memberships renew the Committee also reviews their current reputation.
Don't forget, BNI is word of mouth, so before someone even comes to a meeting they have to have been invited by someone in the group.

Can anyone join a chapter?
We only take one person per trade or professional specialty.

This means that anyone joining effectively locks out their competitors.

Why does BNI meet so early in the day?
We're all busy people with a lot to get done every day.

Meeting times are chosen so just about any business can take part without taking time off from a busy work week.

And it's good to start the working day off by starting with a bit of the buzz that you got from a BNI meeting.
